New Rule: Be a Tourist At Home.
Adams National Historical Park - “The Old House” | John Quincy Adams china pattern (Woodmere reproduction) | Quincy Masonic Temple
Quincy, Massachusetts, the city I’ve called home for 18 months is a historical city, the “City of Presidents”. I visited the National Park Service Adams welcome center yesterday.
I spoke with a couple of park rangers who gushed at the chance to share stories about the Presidents of Quincy. I learned so much about the city I live in, heard a new perspective of American history, and put many of the buildings I pass every day in a historical context…. It was also just a 5 minute walk from home!
Could there be some bit of history that you rush past on your way to work or while running errands? What sweet little gems are you taking for granted?
From now on, I will be a tourist at home.
